Is there a regular airmail service from India or only registered? I can't get a proper answer to this question from my local post office because my lack of Hindi and their lack of English. Therefore I always send my letters using registered airmail, but it would be better for both the receiver and me if there were some regular airmail service. So is there? Is it any slower than the registered?

Which USPS service offers tracking for airmail? I want to mail a package to Canada ( http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/immicl/immiclcd_003.html ) by airmail with a tracking number, but I'm a little confused on which add on USPS special services is which. Is registered mail the only way to get a tracking number for airmail in this case? I asked my post office when I had to mail something else. Apparently Delivery Confirmation is the only way to get a tracking number for airmail. I already checked the webpage personally and wasn't sure, I just wanted to see if anyone actually knew. Recently I have sent a registered airmail parcel to France and the recipient has not received the parcel despite more than 5 months. I'm a Brit living in the USA, I'm frequently sending things to my family i.e. clothing, chocolate, books, photos etc. I used to send them via surface mail but now the US Postal Service has dropped surface mail and sends only via airmail. This is way too expensive for me to use. I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative? I cannot be the generous son/brother/uncle anymore as the airmail postage rates kills me. cancelled stamps from the 1930's are they worth keeping? How long does posting a letter take??!!? I sent some paperwork from my local post office in edinburgh to a firm in Montevideo, Uruguay that runs my company bank account. Stupidly, I didn't take up Royal Mail's offer of recorded-empty-your-whole-wallet service, and just sent via standard Airmail, simply as I couldn't afford it. That was 3 weeks ago today, and they still haven't received my paperwork. I see on Royal Mail's website they say that they deliver to Uruguay within 5 days. Should I be concerned? I'd hate to think that they've been lost, I can't afford to replace the documents. Does standard airmail usually trake this long and do I have any comeback?
