What type of trucks does the Postal Service use to transport mail?

What type of trucks does the Postal Service use to transport mail? Like, armored trucks? OK, it'll sound wierd, but if one crashed, wquld the letters be all over the street? it's for a short story I'm writing...

1. In the UK, the Royal Mail just use normal vehicles. I think they use LDV vans and Volvo lorries aswell as special tube trains and their own trains on the national rail network. When they crash, they may well shed their load. That would mean letters, as you say, all over the place.
