How much worse is it to ship a computer USPS than FedEx or UPS?
FedEx wants $150, UPS wants $200, and USPS wants $30 for parcel post or $80-90 for Priority/Express. I'm moving and the computer is proving to be the hardest part. I have the original box and I've been packing and shipping stuff on eBay for years, so I'm confident in my ability to make a safe container. Another option is to take the tower as my carry-on on the airplane and ship my components.

- UPS and FedEx are experts at packing things for shipping and have all the boxes and padding, etc that you would need for a fragile item such as a computer. I wouldn't trust the post office unless I had all the original packaging and, even then, I'm not sure I would. How much is it worth it to you to have the peace of mind that your package will get there in one piece or will be replaced?
- send it priority mail insured. make sure you remove the HD and take it with you on the plane before you ship it.
