How long does it take for USPS forwarded mail to arrive at the forwarded address?

I had a package sent to my old address, and the tracking information says that it was forwarded to my new address 5 days ago. I wouldn't have thought that having the package forwarded to an address 2 towns away would take very long, but it seems that this is not a fast process. I can't find anything on the USPS's website that gives a timeframe as to when I can expect my delivery at this new address.

1. It really should not take that long but remember last week had a federal holiday in it so maybe that slowed it down a bit. Sometimes it may take an extra day or two for it to go from you old house and sit in the PO until they look up your new address in the system and forward it. But any longer then that and they are just being neglectful. As far as tracking exactly what was it? If it was Delivery Confirmation you usually only see when it was received by the PO initially and then when it was delivered. Signature confirmation is the same way. Usually the only thing that truly is tracked is registered or express mail. Banjo
