How reliable is USPS with standard international shipments?

Paypal suspended my business account for "unusual activity" and won't lift the limitations off my account until my shipment has been delivered. I shipped a really expensive package to Spain with USPS and received a tracking number but won't track any further than the US airport. So now I'm freaking out because I can't access my Paypal funds until my package confirms delivery. How reliable is USPS with international shipments? Do they lose packages often?

1. USPS is no where as reliable as UPS or FedEx or other private companies internationally. USPS takes the package to an airport and sends it to the foreign government mail service. USPS has not a clue about what the foreign carrier will do, and is not allowed to "interfere" with foreign carriers. Anything shipped internationally should go with a private delivery service, as they take it all the way to it's intended recipient
