What is considered a "safe driving record" for the USPS?

My brother wants to apply for a driving job for USPS but has a wreck from last year. What do they consider safe? Someone told him he couldn't have a wreck for 5 years? What I am really looking for is the USPS qualifications if anyone knows them.

  1. This would hamper his chances because they look at your driving record, background, work experience, and education to determine eligibility but as for the 5-years, its possible because he would be considered a high risk......
  2. Any employer will only look at your printed driving record. These are available at the DMV for 5-10 dollars. All reportable or unresolved traffic issues, such as tickets, collisions, etc. are recorded on this record. If one gets a citation and takes care of the penalty as directed, the incident does not show up on the record. It should be noted that the driver record printout is only valid for 30 days with most employment applications. All the best.
  3. The application will most likely require your brother to disclose any accidents he has been involved in. Without knowing the details of his accident, I think he should go ahead and apply. It doesn't hurt to try. BTW...I disagree with the response regarding the info on a person's driving record, as obtained from the DMV. My husband was involved in a collision last year, but did not receive a citation. This accident is NOT on his MVR (motor vehicle record), but it is on record with the DOT...there is a difference. But the few minor citations he received since getting his license ARE on it, even though he settled them right away.
  4. what the usps is looking for 10 year driving printout from the DMV. they are looking for DUI, speeding, Drivers license suspension, accidents. Anyone of these factors are grounds of dismissal.
